The Effects of Negative Emotions On Our Health.




Humans experience an array of emotions, anything from happiness, to sadness to extreme joy and depression. Each one of these emotions creates a different feeling within the body. After all, our body releases different chemicals when we experience various things that make us happy and each chemical works to create a different environment within the body. For example if your brain releases serotonin, dopamine or oxytocin, you will feel good and happy. Convexly, if your body releases cortisol while you are stressed, you will have an entirely different feeling associated more with the body kicking into survival mode.

What about when we are thinking negative thoughts all the time? Or how about when we are thinking positive thoughts? What about when we are not emotionally charged to neither positive nor negative? Let’s explore how these affect our body and life.

 

Positive vs. Negative

Is there duality in our world? Sure, you could say there is to a degree, but mostly we spend a lot of time defining and judging what is to be considered as positive and what we consider to be as negative. The brain is a very powerful tool and as we define what something is or should be, we begin to have that result play out in our world. Have you ever noticed, for example that someone driving can get cut off and lose their lid, get angry and suddenly they are feeling negative, down and in  bad mood? Whereas someone else can get cut off while driving and simply apply the break slightly and move on with their day as if nothing happened. In this case, the same experience yet one sees it as negative while the other doesn’t. So are things innately positive and negative? Or do we define things as positive and negative?

 

Cut The Perceptions As Much As Possible

After thinking about it for a moment you might realize that there are in fact no positive or negative experiences other than what we define as such. Therefore our very perception of an experience or situation has the ultimate power as to how we will feel when it’s happening and how our bodies will be affected. While we can always work to move beyond our definitions of each experience and move into a state of mind/awareness/consciousness where we simply accept each experience for what it is and use it as a learning grounds for us, we may not be there yet and so it’s important to understand how certain emotions can affect our health.

Mind Body Connection

The connection between your mind and body is very powerful and although it cannot be visually seen, the effects your mind can have on your physical body are profound. We can have an overall positive mental attitude and deal directly with our internal challenges and in turn create a healthy lifestyle or we can be in negative, have self destructive thoughts and not deal with our internal issues, possibly even cloak those issues with affirmations and positivity without finding the route and in turn we can create an unhealthy lifestyle. Why is this?

Our emotions and experiences are essentially energy and they can be stored in the cellular memory of our bodies. Have you ever experienced something in your life that left an emotional mark or pain in a certain area of your body? Almost as if you can still feel something that may have happened to you? It is likely because in that area of your body you still hold energy released from that experience that is remaining in that area. I came across an interesting chart that explores some possible areas that various emotions might affect the body.

When you have a pain, tightness or injuries in certain areas, it’s often related to something emotionally you are feeling within yourself. At first glance it may not seem this way because we are usually very out of touch with ourselves and our emotions in this fast paced world, but it’s often the truth. When I’ve had chronic pains in my back, knees, neck or shoulders, it wasn’t exercise, physio or anything in a physical sense that healed it, it was when I dealt with the emotions behind it. I know this because I spent the time and money going to physio and even though I wanted and believed I would get better, something wasn’t being addressed still. The more I addressed the unconscious thought pattern and emotions throughout my body, the more thins loosened up and pain went away.

When you get sick or are feeling a lot of tightness and pain, often times our body is asking us to observe yourself and find peace once again within yourself and your environment. It’s all a learning and growing process we don’t have to judge nor fear.


You Have The Power
Davis Suzuki wrote in ‘The Sacred Life’, ‘condensed molecules from breath exhaled from verbal expressions of anger, hatred, and jealousy, contain toxins. Accumulated over 1 hr, these toxins are enough to kill 80 guinea pigs!’ Can you now imagine the harm you are doing to your body when you stay within negative emotions or unprocessed emotional experience throughout the body?
Remember, you have all the power in you to get through anything life throws at you. Instead of labeling with perception the concepts of negative and positive as it relates to each experience you have in your life, try to see things from a  big picture standpoint. Ask yourself, how can this help me to see or learn something? Can I use this to shift my perception? Clear some emotion within myself? Realize something within another and accept it? Whatever it may be, instead of simply reacting, slow things down and observe. You will find you have the tools to process emotions and illness quickly when you see them for what they are and explore why they came up. If you believe you will get sick all the time, and believe you have pain because it’s all out of your control, you will continue to have it all in an uncontrollable manner until you realize the control you have over much of what we attract within the body.

Preparation of the tea:
In a small saucepan bring water to boil, add the Ground Organic Turmeric PowderOrganic Turmeric RootsGround Organic Ginger Powder, and the Organic Ginger Roots, reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes.

Then put it on a cup and add the Organic Lemon, Organic Honey and the stick of Organic Cinnamon and let it rest for some time until it’s drinkable.  You can adjust the final ingredients to your liking, more lemon, less honey, etc… The idea is to have a tea that you love and enjoy to drink everyday.  This tea is especially good to drink when you are experiencing a sore throat or to boost your immune system if you are catching a cold.
2. Another way to add the magic of Turmeric in your life is in a special dressing that I use for salads, as a dip for vegetables on to put on nearly anything.

Ingredients are:

- A Glass Jar with its cap
- 2 tablespoons of Organic Virgin Olive Oil
- 2 tablespoons of Organic Sesame Oil
- 1 tablespoon of Ground Organic Turmeric Powder

- A pinch of Himalayan Salt (This is the only salt you should use in your meals).
- The juice of 1 Organic Lemon
- 2 cloves of Organic Garlic

Preparation of the dressing:
Make sure you have a kitchen supply like the Magic Bullet or something similar to mix/blend everything together. I love the magic bullet because its power makes my cooking so much easier. Make sure the lid is tight and use a separate spoon to pour it over your meals than the one you are using to eat.

These are two of my favorite easy to do recipes to add Turmeric to my daily life. You can also use turmeric as a spice for everything soups, rice, your meats, etc… It has a very distinct flavor and some people react to it, so make sure you start slowly and see how you and your family react to it.  Also this amazing healthy spice can stain your clothes and your nails, maybe use gloves when handling it, there is a reason why this spice is used as a food coloring.

Health benefits of Sweet Potato [Camote]







Today, camote (SWEET POTATO) should be part of your diet even if you have more money to buy or prepare expensive dishes. Camote is the world’s healthiest food, this is according to statement of North Atlantic Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging. The (SWEET POTATO) is indeed healthy due to following reasons.

1) Superior fiber content
Sweet potatoes contain almost twice as much fiber as other types of potatoes. Contributing close to 7 grams of fiber per serving, they make an excellent starchy addition to any meal. Few beverages on this planet are as biocompatible to the human body and its hydration needs as coconut water.  Indeed, coconut water has been reported to have been used for intravenous hydration and resuscitation of critically ill patients in remote regions of the world for over half a century.  It is also an excellent preserving medium for avulsed teeth (and semen!), besting even Hank's balanced salt solution, a commonly used medical solution.

While some are concerned about the sugar content of this slightly sweet beverage,  recent research shows it actually exhibits blood sugar lowering properties in an experimental model of diabetes.  Additional animal research shows coconut water prevents and reverses high blood pressure associated with fructose feeding-induced hypertension, as well being able to reduce oxidative stress and insulin resistance.
 
Perhaps one of the most amazing properties of coconut water is its superior lipid modulating activity in the animal model vis-à-vis the cholesterol-lowering statin drug known as lovastatin.  Which means we can, in clear conscience, modify Hippocrates’ famous saying to: "Let What You Drink Be Your Medicine."

Other medicinal properties of coconut water include:

  • Blood-Pressuring Lowering Properties:  When human subjects consumed coconut water for two weeks, it was found to lower blood pressure in 74% of the experimental group, reducing it by up to 24 points (mmHg) systolic and 15 points (mmHq) diastolic.
  • Anti-Alzheimer’s Properties: in an animal model of ovariectomy-induced menopausal changes, coconut water appeared to prevent the decline of brain estrogen (estradiol) levels, as well as the associated accumulation of Alzheimer’s disease associated β-amyloid (Aβ) plaque in their brains.
  • Anti-Bacterial Properties: Three novel antimicrobial peptides have been identified in coconut water which exhibited inhibitory activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
  • Anti-Gastroenteritis Agent:  When sodium is added (ideally sea salt) coconut water has been determined to be an ideal rehydrating agent in countries where medical supplies are not freely available, and where, say, cholera and other severe forms of gastroenteritis persist.
Ultimately, coconut makes for an excellent alternative to sports drinks, which are increasingly comprised of synthetic ingredients. Also, coconut water is filtered by Nature through an intensive purification process -- far safer than municipal systems which leave up to 600 toxic disinfectant byproducts behind.

With the prevalence of type 2 diabetes expanding rapidly on a global scale, and an estimated 366 million expected to be diagnosed with the condition by 2030, ginger's potential to alleviate suffering is truly amazing. It is safe, affordable, accessible and, according to a growing body of clinical research, a potential therapeutic agent for diabetes associated health problems.

A new study on ginger's health benefits to type 2 diabetics published in the journal Complementary Therapies in Medicine suggests that this household spice may provide millions suffering with the condition a natural alternative to diabetes medications – many of which have serious, even life threatening, side effects.
This study follows closely on the heels of another, published in the International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition, which showed that 1600 mg of ginger administered for 12 weeks improved 8 distinct markers of type 2 diabetes.

In the new study titled, "The effect of ginger powder supplementation on insulin resistance and glycemic indices in patients with type 2 diabetes: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial," Iranian researchers sought out to identify herbal products effective in addressing insulin resistance, a condition where the body is incapable of properly utilizing or responding to insulin, leading to elevated blood sugar, among many other deleterious effects.  They chose ginger, owing to the robust body of research already extant indicating its value in diabetes, and looked specifically at its effects in regulating blood sugar and increasing insulin sensitivity.

The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involved 81 type 2 diabetics, with a mean age of about 50, who were randomly assigned into ginger (GG) and placebo (PG) groups. The GG received 3 one-gram capsules containing ginger powder whereas the PG received 3 one-gram microcrystalline-containing capsules daily for 8 weeks. The following parameters were evaluated:
  • HbA1c – an indication of damage to the red blood cells caused by the oxidation of sugars (glycation)
  • Fructosamine – a harmful compound produced as a byproduct of result of sugar reacting with an amine
  • Fasting blood sugar (FBS)
  • Fasting insulin
  • Homeostasis model assessment insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR)
  • β-cell function – a cell type within the pancreas responsible for producing insulin
  • Insulin sensitivity
  • Quantitative insulin sensitivity check index (QUICKI)  
The results of the intervention were significant and positive:
  • The mean fasting blood sugar decreased 10.5% in the ginger group, from 171.3 ml/dl to 153.12 mg/dl, whereas the mean increased 21% in the placebo group, from 136.17 mg/dl to 153.73 mg/dl.  
  • The HbA1c decreased from 8.2 to 7.7 in the ginger group, and increased from 6.9 to 8.2 in the placebo group. 
  • Insulin resistance was lowered, as determined by increases in the QIUCKI index in the ginger treated group.
The researchers concluded:
"This study demonstrated that daily consumption of 3 g of ginger in capsules for 8 weeks by patients with type 2 diabetes leads to lowering FBS [fasting blood sugar] and HbA1c means as well as variation in fasting insulin, insulin resistance, increase of sensitivity to insulin and QUICKI index. Therefore, consumption of this supplement is appropriate for patients; for identifying its other effects, however, some further studies are needed."
